Brighton's defenders lead a varied Analytics XI, with attacking returns supported by creation and defensive work.

PL GW7 Analytics TOTW: Brighton lead

An assist put Brighton’s leading defender at the top of the selection, but goals weren’t required everywhere. Manchester United supplied a defender with neither a goal nor an assist, while Chelsea’s goalkeeper contributed through four saves. The value of looking beyond the scoresheet runs through this XI.

TFF’s official Analytics selection totals 105.5 points for GW7 of its simulated Premier League 2026/27 season. This review uses that platform record and its supplied season totals.

Brighton pair create from defence

Luka Vuskovic earned the XI’s highest score, 12 points, after an assist, a shot on target, a key pass and a tackle against Crystal Palace. He completed 90 minutes, combining a direct attacking return with involvement on both sides of the ball. His 49 season points across seven appearances average exactly seven per outing. That supports an established contribution, although his first assist, alongside one season goal, doesn’t establish regular attacking returns. The useful signal is the wider points record; the size of this particular haul needs more caution.

Olivier Boscagli supplied another assist during 81 minutes for 8 points, with three key passes adding creative involvement. His 39.25 points across seven appearances average roughly 5.6, making this a strong outing without being quite as large a departure from his average. This was also his first assist of the season. There is value in the existing points total, but the attacking contribution remains a new addition rather than a demonstrated pattern.

United show two routes through involvement

Four tackles and three key passes make Diogo Dalot one of the clearest examples of activity beyond goals in this selection. His 10 points at Leeds came across a full 90 minutes, without a goal or assist. Those actions provide the Analytics context for his inclusion. With no goals or assists throughout seven appearances, his 32.25-point season already demonstrates that direct attacking returns aren’t his only route to points.

This was still more than twice his season average, so that route shouldn’t be confused with a dependable 10-point expectation. Youri Tielemans added an assist, three key passes and a tackle during 84 minutes for 7.5 points. His 35.25 season points provide a broader contribution to judge, but the assist was his first in seven appearances. Both players offered useful involvement here; one Gameweek cannot establish that their creative or defensive workload has increased permanently.

City's goals arrive with creation

A brace earned Erling Haaland 11.75 points against Ipswich, with two shots on target and three key passes across 90 minutes. Eight goals in seven appearances supply the strongest established goalscoring evidence among this XI. His 43.75 season points average 6.25 per appearance, however, so the latest return remains well above his usual output. The scoring threat is supported by the season; another brace is a much less reasonable baseline.

Phil Foden combined his goal with three key passes and two tackles during 77 minutes, collecting 7.75 points. That mixture gives Analytics managers more to consider than the finish alone. Yet this was his first goal in five appearances, with two assists also contributing to his 21.75-point season. His involvement is encouraging, but neither the goal nor this week’s supporting actions can establish a sustained change without comparable season usage figures.

Chelsea contribute at both ends

Five key passes accompanied two goals from Pedro Neto, whose 11.25 points also came with three shots on target and two tackles over 90 minutes at Everton. It was a varied contribution, with creation and defensive work alongside the finishing. The season comparison still demands restraint: those two goals account for two-thirds of his season tally, while this haul represents almost a third of his 35.25 points across seven appearances.

Emiliano Martínez supplied 8 points after four saves in 75 minutes. Saves provided his clear goalkeeping contribution, although the stat line doesn’t isolate every component of the score. His 36.75 points from six appearances average roughly 6.1, putting this above his usual return without the same dramatic jump as some others in the selection. That supports his existing points contribution, while leaving the repeatability of this particular save workload uncertain.

Three attacking returns need different verdicts

Evanilson earned 11.75 points against Sunderland through a goal, an assist, two key passes and two tackles in 79 minutes. Two goals and four assists across seven appearances give his attacking involvement a broader foundation than this one outing. His 41.5-point total supports continued attention, although scoring and assisting together remains a strong individual week. Alex Iwobi reached 10.25 points against Hull with a goal, two shots on target and three key passes over 90 minutes. With no other goals or assists in his 35-point season, the finish is a spike rather than an established pattern.

For Declan Rice, an assist and three key passes across 90 minutes at Nottingham Forest brought 7.25 points. Four assists in seven appearances make supplying goals a recurring part of his record, alongside 31.5 season points. That is a firmer attacking signal than projecting goals from a player yet to score. Across this group, the season evidence favours repeated involvement over simply chasing the biggest latest return.
